On Christmas Eve this year, we went out to Three Sisters Springs on the Crystal river to see the Manatees gathering in the warmth of the 72 degree headspring. Often, you can also see a handful of tiny babies! This year was not nearly as full as our visit last year. Less than a hundred huddled together here.
Remember, Manatees are protected. People are not allowed to enter the zones roped off and are not permitted to interact or harass them in any manor. If you’re lucky enough, and you’re in the water outsize of the no-go zone, one may swim up to you and approach you for some nuzzles and investigative bumps, but do be careful around these gentle giants.
